I was born and raised in California, in a family of eight children. I have five older brothers, an older sister and a younger sister. As a young girl, I was definitely considered a "tomboy". I loved going fishing with my Dad and brothers, and would beg my brothers to let me tag along with them and their friends to play baseball and tackle football. I didn't care that they were all twice my size.
When I wasn't outside playing sports, I liked being in the kitchen with my Mom, baking cookies and bread. I also loved playing "Beauty Salon" cutting my own hair and convincing my little sister to play along. I have memories of us girls dancing in front of the full-length mirror in our bedroom, singing at the top of our lungs to popular music at the time, like Olivia Newton John's Let's Get Physical! We had so much fun together.
Some of my favorite childhood memories are family picnics on the beach, making our own sand candles. We spent many summers camping and traveling to visit relatives or experience new places. We even took really long road trips, once to Alaska and another time we drove from California to New York. We share many wonderful memories, and continue to build strong bonds with each other.
My parents have always been consistent at teaching the gospel in our home, primarily through their example. I loved when we gathered as a family to read the scriptures, or knelt together in prayer. My parents have continued to set that example, as they've served a mission in Michigan and are getting ready to leave on another mission to Australia.
Having grown up in a loving, fun family, I have always looked forward to the day I'd be able to raise a family of my own. There isn't anything that would make me more happy than having children join Marc and me on all our adventures!
